JOB SUMMARY: This position is located at the Golf Course which is part of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department aboard Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Florida. This activity is maintained and operated as a service for all active duty, retired military and their dependents.
MAJOR DUTIES:
Responsibility for the merchandizing of the Golf Pro Shop ensuring proper inventory levels and turn ratios. Assists with the responsibility for the efficient operation of the Golf Pro Shop. Ensures correct pricing on resale merchandise, ensures resale merchandise is properly displayed and makes recommendation for improving resale activities. Assists patrons in the selection of equipment and related items. Ensures all transactions are carried out according to supervisory instructions. Ensures that instructions pertaining to the security of all monies are adhered to.
Conducts individual and group golf lessons. Teaches and demonstrates the proper use of all types of golf equipment and ensures proper fittings. Conducts golf clinics periodically. Performs golf club repairs for patrons. Assists in providing rigid supervision of course play and plans, promotes, and assists in the staging of golf tournaments and special events. Assists the in the programming of golf programs. Must maintain good relations with patrons to promote, maintain and improve golf enthusiasm.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: This position demands a skilled golf professional whose experience or potential knowledge of the game and personality qualify him to teach golf. Must be hold Class “A” designation from the Professional Golf Association of America. Must be willing to become knowledgeable in operating a financial establishment. Must be capable of making decisions of a wide variety with reference to U.S. Golf Association regulations, Professional Golf Association regulations, supervisory directives, recreational sports service to eligible patrons, to a diversified group, or to individuals whose interests must be developed and/or sustained.
NOTE: Some positions have special requirements. Selection may be tentative pending the completion of the satisfactory employment reference checks and receipt of proof of education (where applicable). SPOUSAL PREFERENCE: Spousal Preference can be used only once to gain regular full time employment in the commuting area but may be used multiple times for flexible type position.

- Copy of spouses’ orders that state the “Ultimate Activity” is within the average commuting distance to NAS Jacksonville.
- A copy of the marriage certificate that provides proof that marriage occurred prior to the issuance of the orders.
